In Character

Cartman is the star of the hit cartoon show"South Park". If you have seen the show than you agree when i say, he's the reason that show is on the air. Cartman is the bad boy he has big impact on our culture because, in every society their is a black sheep. Someone to balane the scale on good and evil, cartman is that weight, he's the one thats always coming up with scheems to make money, or cause trouble. He's the devil in your ear, you know what he does is bad, but its so tempting and fun. Without people like Cartman life would be boring.
Richard Pryor is the voice for all people. He's the guy that talks about what other people are afraid to say. He talks about racism and statistics, he makes those rude but true comments about diffrent types of races/people. The facinating the about what he says, is how he says it. He makes people laugh and opens their eyes to real problems in the community at the same time. Even though he may say something in a joking way, he is dead seariuos about the message he sends with it. He a say something about the diffrence in how white people, and black people raise their children; its sad, but also true.

Stories

Stories are important to a child because, it develops a sence of imagination in the childs mind, also its fun to them. I think people read stories to kids to pass on their herritage or information about their ancestors, or to keep their minds occupied, theirs way more than one reason. Kids get a fun experience out of it, also a memory, and maybe a hero/ something they want to be like when they get older.
I think older people read to stay entertained, or gather certain information about something, they read for action. The readers get a good satisfying feeling, a feeling that they completed a goal. Older people learn what ever they want to learn, because older people have opinions about what they thought the story ment, but children go off of what they are told.
I remember stories from my grandfather (OC). I never read too much as a child, unless i had to, iremember him telling me stories about how much he loved me and all his other grandchildren. he would sit us on his lap, or make us gather around him and he'd sit and talk to us for hours at a time about whatever came to his mind, we'd sit thier and listen to his stories and smell the Seagrim Gen off his rugged beard.
A good character should have an interesting background, one that the reader could relate to, or feel for. If the character is boring the reader may not take much interest in the book. Take Harry Potter for example, he has a very interesting backround, and his past sets up for the rest of the story. Also a character should have ways off getting the readers attention, either it be by word use or physical actions, which ever way make sure to type it in a way the reader interprets it the way you intended them to. Another good characteristic is Drama, the character should have some sort of drama in his/her life, maybe even some Ssuspence, something to keep the audience on the edge of their seat, and guesing whats gonna happen next. All those Characteristics together in the right way, will gaurantee a great story every time!!!

Life Is Fine by Langston Hughes

I went down to the river,I set down on the bank.I tried to think but couldn't,So I jumped in and sank.I came up once and hollered!I came up twice and cried! If that water hadn't a-been so coldI might've sunk and died. But it was Cold in that water! It was cold!I took the elevatorSixteen floors above the ground.I thought about my babyAnd thought I would jump down.I stood there and I hollered!I stood there and I cried! If it hadn't a-been so highI might've jumped and died. But it was High up there! It was high!So since I'm still here livin',I guess I will live on.I could've died for love--But for livin' I was bornThough you may hear me holler,And you may see me cry--I'll be dogged, sweet baby,If you gonna see me die.Life is fine! Fine as wine! Life is fine!

The reason i chose this poem was because, I too believe that life is fine! I found the way he related suicide to life, and his women.

The way the title fits the poem, is how at one moment he hates life enough to kill him self. Then he some how saves his self by his fears of height and cold water.

In the poem he uses personification and imagery to paint a picture of the events he went through when he says "i took the elevator 16 floors off the ground" and "i jumped into the water"

My PlayAnalysis.

1. My play was about a couple who broke up because of trouble with children. The characters in my play were Joe&Lacy, these two characters were once lovers. Joe later caught Lacy having an affair, Joe then began doughting the two children they had together were his. Lacy, feeling ashamed decided to take a blood test to prove to Joe that the kids are infact his.
Things i found hard about wrightig this play was having to switch from scene to scene. I would have to create an event that leads up to the next scene, then make sure the next scene makes since with what happened in the scene before it. The thing i found easy about creating a drama play was, figuring out what to wright about. Drama is so easy to wright about because so many things that happen in the world involve drama.
I would tell a ten year old to stay focused more on school than girls and other things, becouse if i had a did that life would be more easy for me now.

1. How important is theme in what you write? Does a great piece of literature need to express an idea? Explain your thoughts on the matter using examples from things you've read. In your response, address the opposing viewpoint. (Write at least 100 words.)
I believe theme plays an important role in what I, or anybody else wrights. The theme of the story is just as important as any other aspect of the play, becouse without a great theme the audience is liable to loose interest in the play. I do believe that a great piece of literature needs to express an idea. The reason why you need to express an idea is becouse, the reader needs something to cling on to, a sort of curiosity to keep them on the edge of their seat, something to keep them guesing about whats gonna happen next. Like a book i read named "The Catcher In The Rye". Throught the book, the main character is living from place to place, it kinda makes you wonder were he's gonna end up next, and whats gonna happen when he gets their; will he be arrested, or killed, things like that.
2. What might be a theme that you'd consider communicating through your play. It could be a theme about something that concerns you (think back to what you wrote in your first blog), a theme about something you see socially or politically. It could be a theme about anything else. Write about that theme and why it is important to you? (Write at least 100 words).
A theme I would consider communicating through my play, might be more of a romantic/comedy type of genre. I think people like to see how love can provale threw a variety of freak events and embarrasing situations. It gives the audience a chance to laugh and connect certain situations in the play, with actual events in their relationships. Things like child custody, divorces, hook ups, and all sorts of things that happen between couples in the real world; ecxept for its funny and entertaining. Thats the type of theme im gonna try an portray in my play, because if you have had a relationship with a person, then your gonna be able to relate to some type of event in the play, so their for it effects almost everybody.

3. What is one conflict you write about in your play. Generate some ideas for conflicts you could write about. This may or may not be connected to potential themes. (Write at least 75 words)
A type of conflict that I wright about in my play is about a man who belives that the children he and his girlfriend had, are not his. In my play i could generate so many ideas for conflicts because
